In My Kit, a workspace is the secure container that holds all your inventory data — firearms, ammunition, gear, range sessions, and members. Every account belongs to exactly one workspace, and a workspace corresponds directly to an organization. The two terms are interchangeable throughout the app and documentation. Your workspace is completely private. No one outside your organization can see your data, and you cannot see data from any other organization. This isolation is enforced at multiple levels, so it holds even in the unlikely event of an application bug.Documentation Index

Creating a workspace
Workspaces are created by request or during the onboarding process. When your workspace is set up, the person who created it becomes the owner. The owner can then invite additional members. If you’re joining an existing organization, you’ll receive an invitation from the owner or an admin. You don’t need to create a workspace yourself.Roles and permissions
Every member of a workspace has one of three roles: owner, admin, or member. Roles control what each person can see and do within the organization.| Action | Owner | Admin | Member |
|---|---|---|---|
| View all inventory | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Add and edit inventory items | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Log range sessions | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Invite new members | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Change member roles | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Remove members | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Delete inventory items | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Manage organization settings | ✓ | — | — |
| Transfer ownership | ✓ | — | — |
| Delete the organization | ✓ | — | — |
There is exactly one owner per organization at any time. The owner can transfer ownership to another member, but cannot remove themselves without doing so first.
Owner
The owner has full control over the workspace. They can change any setting, manage all members, and permanently delete the organization. There is one owner per workspace.Admin
Admins can manage day-to-day operations: inviting and removing members, changing roles (up to admin level), and adding or deleting inventory. Admins cannot access organization-level settings or transfer ownership.Member
Members can view all inventory and contribute new records — adding firearms, logging ammunition, recording range sessions, and managing gear. Members cannot invite others or delete data.Inviting members
To add someone to your workspace, navigate to your organization settings and look for the Members or Invite section. Enter the person’s email address and select the role you want to assign them. The invited person will receive access instructions. Once they sign in, they are immediately part of your workspace and can see all inventory according to their assigned role.Changing a member’s role
Owners and admins can change the role of any member whose current role is equal to or lower than their own. To change a role, go to the Members section in your organization settings, find the member, and select a new role from the dropdown. An admin cannot promote another member to owner. Only the current owner can transfer ownership.
Data isolation
Every piece of data in My Kit — every firearm, every round count, every range session — belongs exclusively to your organization. Access controls enforce this boundary automatically, so your data is never accessible to users in other organizations. This means:- Members of other organizations cannot access your inventory, even if they know item IDs or URLs.
- My Kit support staff cannot browse your data through the application in the normal way.
- Deleting your organization permanently removes all associated data.
