Below are answers to common questions about using My Kit. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, use the feedback link in the app to request additional documentation.
If you are logged out, click Forgot password on the login page at mykit.info and follow the instructions sent to your email. If you are already logged in, you can change your password from your profile page. See Password and account security for full steps and requirements (minimum 6 characters).
My Kit automatically deducts rounds from your ammo stock when you save a range session. The number of rounds deducted equals the rounds_fired value recorded for each ammo type linked to that session. If you edit or delete a session, your ammo quantities are automatically corrected to reflect the change.
Action items appear on your dashboard when My Kit detects something that needs your attention. The following conditions create an action item:
  • Out-of-service status — a firearm or item is marked as out of service
  • Cleaning interval due — a warning appears 14 days before the cleaning interval is reached; a critical alert appears when it is overdue
  • Battery interval due — same 14-day warning and overdue critical pattern as cleaning intervals
  • Low ammo stock — a warning appears when quantity falls below the low_stock_threshold (default: 100 rounds); a critical alert appears when quantity reaches 0
Kit Value is the total estimated value of everything in your inventory. It is calculated as:
  • Sum of purchase_price for all firearms
  • Sum of purchase_price for all accessories
  • Sum of purchase_price for all gear
  • Ammo value: quantity × cost_per_round for each ammo record
Items without a purchase price or cost entered are treated as zero and do not affect the total.
The recipient needs a My Kit account to accept a share. You can still send the share link before they sign up — it will be waiting for them once they create an account and log in.Note that sharing is rate-limited to 20 shares per hour.
Account deletion is permanent and immediate. All data in your organization is deleted, including:
  • All firearms, accessories, ammo, and gear
  • All range sessions, drills, drill steps, and competitions
  • Your organization and all memberships
Your authentication account is then removed and you are redirected to the login page. There is no way to recover any data after deletion. See Password and account security for the full deletion steps.
Set a cleaning_interval_days value on any firearm to enable reminders. My Kit tracks the number of days since the last recorded cleaning and alerts you on the dashboard:
  • Warning — 14 days before the interval is due
  • Critical — when the interval is overdue
To clear the alert, log a cleaning event for that firearm to reset the clock.
Out-of-stock status means the quantity for that ammo record has reached 0. This typically happens after rounds are automatically deducted across one or more range sessions. To resolve it, log a new purchase or manually update the quantity on the ammo record to add rounds back to your stock.
A loadout is a named configuration of firearms and gear that you can save and reuse. You can optionally tag a range session with a loadout to record which configuration you used during that session. Loadouts make it easier to track performance and equipment across similar sessions.
A mobile companion app is currently in development. It is not yet available for download. Check back at mykit.info for updates on the mobile release.
Yes. You can edit or delete any range session from the sessions list. When you do, My Kit automatically recalculates and corrects ammo quantities to account for the change in rounds_fired. You do not need to manually adjust ammo after editing or deleting a session.
You can attach two types of files to a firearm record:
  • Images — photos of the firearm or its configuration. Images are automatically resized on upload.
  • Documents — files such as owner’s manuals, FFL transfer paperwork, or service records. Documents are stored as uploaded without modification.
All attachments are stored securely and are only visible to you.
