A loadout is a saved, named configuration that combines specific firearms and gear items from your inventory into a single package. Use loadouts to represent your duty kit, home defense setup, competition rig, range day carry, or any other configuration you want to capture and reuse. Loadouts also feed into range sessions — when you log a range day you can attach a loadout to record exactly what you were running.

Create a loadout

Navigate to Dashboard → Gear → Loadouts and select New loadout.
1

Name your loadout

Enter a Name (required) that identifies this configuration — for example, “Patrol Kit”, “3-Gun Stage Rig”, or “IDPA Carry Setup”. Add an optional Description for context about when or how you use it.
2

Add firearms

Select Add firearm and pick one or more firearms from your inventory. For each firearm, configure:
  • Worn on body — toggle on if the firearm is carried directly on your person (e.g., a holstered pistol)
  • Container — optionally place the firearm inside a container gear item (see Container nesting below)
3

Add gear items

Select Add gear and pick items from your Gear Cage. For each gear item, configure:
  • Worn on body — toggle on if the item is worn directly (e.g., a plate carrier or belt)
  • Container — optionally nest the item inside another gear item marked as a container
Repeat until all items in the configuration are represented.
4

Assign containers (if applicable)

If you have container items in the loadout (plate carriers, chest rigs, bags), go back through your firearms and gear and set their Container field to the appropriate parent item. This nests them inside the container in the loadout view, matching your physical kit layout.
5

Review total weight

The loadout builder displays a running Total weight calculated from the weight_oz values of all items in the loadout. Review this before saving to confirm the configuration is within your target weight.
6

Save

Select Save. The loadout appears in your loadouts list and is available to select when creating a range session.

Container nesting

Gear items flagged as containers in the Gear Cage can act as parent items inside a loadout. You assign other gear items — or firearms — to a container by setting their Container field to that item. My Kit then displays them nested under the container in the loadout view.
Use container nesting to mirror your real-world kit organization. For example, assign your IFAK, tourniquet holder, and radio pouch as children of your plate carrier. You can also place a secondary firearm (such as a pistol in a drop holster attached to the carrier) inside the same container. The resulting loadout view reflects exactly how items are physically mounted or packed.
Nesting is one level deep per container. An item can belong to only one container within a given loadout.

Total weight

The loadout builder sums the weight_oz value of every firearm and gear item assigned to the loadout and displays the result as Total weight. The calculation updates live as you add or remove items. To get accurate totals, make sure each item in your Gear Cage and firearms inventory has a weight entered.

Associate a loadout with a range session

When you create a new range session under Dashboard → Range, you can optionally select a Loadout from a dropdown of your saved configurations. Selecting one links that session to the loadout, recording which firearms and gear you had with you for that training day.
Selecting a loadout when logging a range session is optional. If you ran a non-standard kit that day, you can leave the field blank and note the specifics in the session’s notes field instead.

Edit a loadout

Open any loadout from the loadouts list and select Edit. You can rename the loadout, update the description, add or remove items, change worn-on-body flags, and reassign containers. Save when done. Changes to a loadout do not retroactively update range sessions that were previously linked to it.

Delete a loadout

Open the loadout and select Delete. This removes the loadout configuration permanently. Firearms and gear items are not affected — they remain in your inventory. Range sessions previously linked to the loadout retain their association record but the loadout name will no longer resolve to a configuration.
